Giving For Luchang

Luchang loved other people deeply, no matter who they were or where they lived. As one way of expressing that love, she supported GiveWell, an organization that carefully analyzes the impact of other charities and distributes funding to them in the way that they believe will do the most to help others.

Examples of projects GiveWell has funded include distributing mosquito nets in sub-Saharan Africa, estimated to save the life of one child and keep many others healthy for every $3000 spent, and providing pills to prevent schistosomiasis, a disease that sickens millions and kills tens of thousands of people each year, at a cost of 50 cents per treatment.

Money given through this page will go directly to GiveWell as an "unrestricted donation", allowing them to fund whichever projects offer the most value -- from disease prevention to research on promising new interventions.

Luchang respected GiveWell for many reasons, including:

• Their strategic approach to helping the world's poorest, most vulnerable people
• Their willingness to invest in research to improve the quality of their work
• Their commitment to honesty and transparency in all of their activities
